We've been a lot of talk about discrimination so I decided to think for a while about it. In fact, I came to some conclusions that you may or may not agree.
First, I realized that, somehow, every single one of us might discriminate someone; and if we don’t, lucky us because it means that we’ve never felt threatened about anyone.
So, if we just discriminate when we feel threatened, we can assume that discrimination was one “polite”, “civilized”, human way that mankind found to substitute their animal instincts.
We are all nothing but animals – that’s the truth. We born, we live, we grow, we die; and that’s it! So it’s normal that we have the same instincts, the same need of survival that any other animal.
So, when cats get mad, they spine themselves, saying like “I’m feeling threatened by you, let’s go fight so I can have a chance to beat you!”. Humans are way more subtle and, as they don’t like to show the World their fears, they discriminate, but just because it is just one way to say “yes, you might be better than me, but I’ll make you think that you suck, so perhaps I can convince you!”. And then, if the person that discriminates has influence in some others, as people tend to stereotype and create dogmatic ideas, that discrimination usually passes from generation to generation; and then we came to one point when people discriminate because someone told them that it was the right thing.
Mankind is just like that: we are animals, but cynics. And we probably should became more animals and let behind all our beautiful dresses of sake politeness and be more honest. Because inside each and every one of us, no matter the color, religion believes, ideas, values, we are all made of the very same things: we all might succeed, we all might lose, we all might fight and we all might dislike this or that; we all might criticize, we all might kill, we all might get killed, we all might suffer, we all might be lucky, we all might be unfaithful, but, what we’ll, for certain, do is to try to fulfill our lives and be happy, and no one has the right to deny that.

The American economy is an ever-present force in the world today. Pepsi ads now clutter the streets of every big city in China, Big Macs are being ordered throughout the entire world, and the term "Always Coca-Cola" is being muttered by all of Europe, although they have no idea what the phrase means. Have we gone too far in our economic Americanization of the world?

Americanization is not only changing the world, but also causing wrong judgments to be made about American life. In a recent French poll of images that come to mind when thinking of America, 67% of those polled said "violence" and 49% "inequality" as opposed to only 20% who said "freedom" and 4% "generosity". In Europe, Americans are stereotyped by globalization as being shallow, spoiled, and shortsighted.

Comment: We think that this has gone too far! We are loosing our identity by tanking America's culture! And that is a shame because America don't have one real and unique culture: it's a combo of people and races, religions, ...
So we think that there is no problem with taking some ideas of other countries, but trying to adapt them to our culture instead of copying them. We should keep our roots and maintain our originality and our dignity! The world only moves while there are different ideas to be discussed.

And he was seen as one hope for the world.

Some people opened their minds and stop wondering weather he was black or white, Jewish or Cristian;

and some people realized that his difference didn't stopped him from winning and became the hope for so many people.

He is the first black president of the USA and we hope that contributes to one change in society.

People have to became more unite and stop wondering about their tiny differences, because we are all made of the same. Barack Obama is the proof that anyone, no matter their roots, their believes or their skin, can make difference, and make the world a better place to live.

Racism in the United States has been a major issue ever since the colonial era and the slave era. Legally sanctioned racism imposed a heavy burden on Native Americans, African Americans, Asian Americans, and Mexican Americans. European Americans were privileged by law in matters of literacy, immigration, voting rights, citizenship, land acquisition, and criminal procedure over periods of time extending from the 17th century to the 1960s. Many European ethnic groups, particularly American Jews, Irish Americans, and Eastern European and Southern European immigrants, as well as immigrants from elsewhere, suffered xenophobic exclusion and other forms of racism in American society.

Historical explanation for the racial issue:The Jim Crow Laws were state and local laws enacted in the Southern and border states of the United States and enforced between 1876 and 1965. They mandated "separate but equal" status for black Americans. In reality, this led to treatment and accommodations that were almost always inferior to those provided to white Americans.
Segregation continued even after the demise of the Jim Crow laws. Data on house prices and attitudes toward integration from suggest that in the mid-20th century, segregation was a product of collective actions taken by whites to exclude blacks from their neighborhoods.
Black-White segregation is declining fairly consistently for most metropolitan areas and cities. Despite these pervasive patterns, many changes for individual areas are small. Thirty years after the civil rights era, the United States remains a residentially segregated society in which Blacks and Whites inhabit different neighborhoods of vastly different quality.

Some researchers suggest that racial segregation may lead to disparities in health and mortality.

The immigrants contribute to the development of the country they go to, because they go looking for work, and they usually work harder that they would if they were in their own country.

In that sense, immigration benefits one country because it gains labor, that is necessary to raise one economically stable country.

When one country has a stable and strong economy, the population become happy, and it leads to one stable society as well; that attracts more immigrants, so we can conclude that immigration leads to more immigration and that its important to any country.

Once we are out of school, we are out the work market. Nowadays, with the unemployment and the growing of the population, it's hard to find a job because they are all filled and just who has qualifications can get the few that still exists.

With the improvement of the school opportunities, everybody has access to education, what leads even more to the lack of employment. Accordingly, we have to push ourselves to our best and think carefully about our choices because our life will depend on that.

The qualifications can determine our success in the future. They can determine if we get the job or if we stay in the street...And with the things as they are, a job is very important, because is the only way to get money to live.

There is no doubt that consumerism has a huge impact upon our life. Consumerism means fashion, shopping, publicity...That's the kind of things we see all around us.

Consumerism can ruin us and our family, because of the money that we spend or when it changes our personality, becoming more egocentric.

Our society has been losing the Christmas spirit with all this frenzy consumerism. The religion values, that were the original bases of this holiday, had almost disappeared. We just care about the presents, what came to be the only purpose of Christmas. We spend this season full of stress, worried about getting the right gift (or sometimes just some gift) to our friend and family. The tradicion that used to happen just among the closer family, started to open to people that sometimes we don't really care about, we just give them gifts to look nice - it's a fake happiness: everybody pretends to be happy when at the end we are just stressed.

Christmas as also a bad influence in the environment: all those gift-boxes, wrapping paper and wast of food accumulate on the streets, and as a consequence, in our world, that is already poluted enough.

My sister’s keeper – One possible end

I already know how the film ends, because I had seen it; so, I just tried to imagine one possible ending that I would have gave it if I were the director.
First of all, I would like to highlight that it was simply impossible to imagine one better ending, in my opinion. There are films which have cruel and really sad endings, and there are others that have those so famous “happy endings”; “my sister’s keeps” neither have one or the other! And that isn’t the most extraordinary thing about it! In fact, is the surprise that we have with the ending that makes the whole film even more astonishing.
So, if I were the director (as I certainly wouldn’t have that fabulous idea) I would have made Anna loose the cause on the court, because the judge knew that Alexander Campbell had defended one drunk driver that had hit one girl with the same age of her daughter when she was murdered.
Anna is forced by her mother to do the surgery. Unfortunately, it goes wrong, and Anna ends up dying. And Kate dies at the exact same time.

GMF - consequences

Scientists can choose which genes to manipulate, but they don't yet know where in the DNA to precisely insert these genes and they have no way of controlling gene expression. Genes don't work in isolation, changing a few could change the whole picture, with unpredictable and different effects under different circumstances, and GM crops could cross-pollinate with nearby non-GM plants and create ecological problems. And, above all of that, we all know that "we are what we eat", so thin can be one of the major problems: to change the human nature itself.

GM food will end food diversity if everyone starts growing the same standardized crops. Herbicide-resistant and pesticide-resistant crops could give rise to super-weeds and super-pests that would need newer, stronger chemicals to destroy them, and which will seriously harm the food chain.

The GM technology companies patent their crops and also engineer crops so that harvested grain germs are incapable of developing. This is not empowering to impoverished Third World farmers, who cannot save seeds for replanting and have to buy expensive seeds from the companies every time. The new technology also interferes with their traditional agricultural ways which may be more suited to their conditions. The claim of ending world hunger with GM food is a false claim. World hunger is not caused by shortage of food production, but by sheer mismanagement, and lack of access to food brought about by various social, financial and political causes.

It's about time to ask to the scientists:

Genetically modified (GM) food includes crops, vegetables and fruit that have been created using genetic engineering methods. The principle aim with GM food is to combine desirable genes from various species to create new genetically-altered crosses with enhanced nutritional, productive and ecological value. GMF’s are known for some people as the solution for the hunger problems in the world.

In other hand, this process of combining inter-species genes, which is called recombinant DNA technology, does not have the checks and balances that are imposed by nature in traditional breeding. Without these, there is a risk of genetic instability. This means that no one can make any accurate predictions about the long term effects of GM foodstuffs on human beings and the environment .

So, that leads us to some questions: would GMF’s solve world hunger problems? If it does, would it be the best way of solve it? Aren’t the major hunger problems caused by problems in food distribution and politics, instead of production?

It’s true that GM crops are more productive, resistance to pests, weeds, disease and stay ripe for longer periods and might offer more nutritional value and better flavor or eliminate allergy-causing properties in some foods; they are also more environment friendly as they require less herbicides and pesticides!

But every rose has a thorn...

Biofuel
Liquid biofuel is usually either bioalcohol such as bioethanol or an oil such as biodiesel.

Biodiesel
Is made from vegetable oils, animal fats or recycled greases. Biodiesel can be used as a fuel for vehicles in its pure form, but it is usually used as a diesel additive to reduce levels of particulates, carbon monoxide, and hydrocarbons from diesel-powered vehicles. Biodiesel is produced from oils or fats using transesterification and is the most common biofuel in Europe.

Geothermal energy
Krafla Geothermal Station in northeast IcelandGeothermal energy is energy obtained by tapping the heat of the earth itself, both from kilometers deep into the Earth's crust in some places of the globe or from some meters in geothermal heat pump in all the places of the planet. It is expensive to build a power station but operating costs are low resulting in low energy costs for suitable sites. Ultimately, this energy derives from heat in the Earth's core.

Each one of us lives in an individual body.

We often do things for our own benefit that can be labeled selfish because we are doing them with ourselves in mind: We want to meet our needs and find satisfaction with our lives.

We don’t think in the others!

Our planet's resources are such that they will soon expire, as our selfish nature outstrips the very resources we need to survive.

We are abusing in the way that we treat our Planet!

And who will we have left to blame for that? No one but ourselves.

We are the causes for all that bad things that happen in the World and we will be affected by our acts!

Enough of wasting our time! We need to change NOW!

The Horrible Truth

Testing cosmetics and medical treatments in animals, people aren't aware of the real truth.
It's usually to ear people saying, to defend themselves: "Oh it's better than testing in humans!", or "They don't feel the pain!", "It's not that many!", ...

Well, we are here to say to you the Horrible Truth because everyone should know:

every year, a total of 115 million animals are tested and sometimes killed in the testing of products;
in some testing facilities, animals are routinely cut open, poisoned and ou forced to live in steel cages, for years and years;
in 2005: 66610 dogs, 57531 primates, 58598 pigs, 245786 rabbits, 22921 cats, 176988 hamsters, 64146 other farm animals, 32260 sheep, 221286 guinea pigs, 231440 other animals...
during 2009 it was accurately estimated that around 20 million animals have been tested on, and almost 15 million lost their lives.

And only 6% of the products that are tested on animals actually make it to the consumers!

In the human world, we are blind to the Horrible Truth, that the only reason animals are still being tested on is, in fact, laziness. If one big ticket company switched its ways, and set an example, imagine how many animals would be saved every day.

Citarum River

Citarum is a river in West Java, Indonesia. It has an important role in the life of the people of West Java, as it is used to support agriculture, water supply, industry, sewerage, ...

This is one picture of that river some years ago; we can see a clean pure river, perfectly normal and far away from the human specie.

Nowadays, about five million people live in the basin of the river. Look what they did to it:

Yes, the river's surface is completely covered with garbage! People have to make room between the trash for the boats make it through.

We need to change

It's like we are all in a house with the central heating out of control, and everybody knows what's going on, everybody complains, but first, those two or three who are trying to do something don't have the strenght enough to change anything, and second, those one who have the ability to fix it, are just saying it's all ok or pretending to do something just to shut the complaining ones.

This is not working, we ALL have to do something. We need TO CHANGE.

Energy is in everything. We use energy to do everything we do, from baking our favourite cookies to sending astronauts into space – energy is there, making sure we have the power to do it all. If we need energy to have the power to do it all we need to save it!

Save the energy the most you can!

Although recently it was created alternatives of ecological energy, it isn’t enough because the whole world no yet use ecological energy in their homes. Instead of it they continued using the natural resources to have energy in their homes. What they forget is that resources will be end soon! So invest, try to use the ecological energy and contribute for a better World!

Until we all decide to change the way we live day-to-day, the environment will become progressively worse.
The smallest thing we do in our daily life as an impact in the environment, like letting the lights on or letting the water tap open. If we want to keep our planet clean and healthy we should, all as one take these steps:
• Save Water! When you aren’t in need of it, close the taps because it is a basic need for our life as also wild life;
• Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! It will improve in matter of pollution, because so many materials take more than 100 years to deteriorate;
• Use rationally the nature resources! Our future generation will need them!
We can’t take our planet and is resources as granted- if we do that we can get disappointed!

Make some daily changes and our planet will be better!

While many greenhouse gases occur naturally and needed to create the greenhouse effect that keeps the Earth warm enough to support life, the raising of burning of fossil fuels since the Industrial Revolution has substantially increased the levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, and that modifies our planets’ natural balance, which has had a discernible influence on many physical and biological systems. Warming is projected to affect various issues such as freshwater resources, industry, food and health. Conclusion: as we hurt mother-Nature, she is punishing us but we, instead of pretend to be little angels and start to treat her well, we are just annoying our mom and make her even meaner. We shouldn’t forget that “Nature it’s like a woman: she doesn’t know how to defend herself, but she can take revenge like no one.”

When Tom Reddoch was growing up in southern Louisiana, on a pencil-thin strip of land flanked on one side by the Mississippi and on the other by a marshy inland waterway, he and his friends used to brag to each other that this was the greatest place on Earth. Children had different expectations back in the 1950s: what they meant was that they would never go hungry.
"The one thing we could be certain of is that we would never starve down here. In those days, this was one great protein factory."
Fishing and oyster harvesting was easy, as the nutrient-rich swirl of the freshwater Mississippi and the sea spawned wildlife in endless abundance. But over the course of his lifetime, Reddoch has seen about 70% of that extraordinary biodiversity fade away through the combined onslaught of overfishing, the laying of oil pipelines and man-made diversions to the Mississippi.
Now the region – which includes nearly half of America's wetlands – faces its greatest threat of all, one which, Reddoch fears, could kill off what little environmental riches are left.
"This could be the coup de grace. It could be the last blow," he says.
All along this levee-lined spit of land that stretches from just south of New Orleans down to Venice – a fishing and oil town which, as the name implies, stands on the seafront – people are bracing themselves for the arrival of what could become the worst environmental disaster the US has ever seen. About 50 miles offshore from Venice is the site of Deepwater Horizon, the oil drilling rig operated by BP that exploded on 20 April, leading to the disappearance and presumed death of 11 workers and the spewing of up to 5,000 barrels of oil a day into the sea.
Unless BP succeeds in plugging three leaks some 5,000ft (1,500 metres) undersea, the disaster will within a matter of weeks exceed even the 1989 Exxon Valdez catastrophe off the coast of Alaska.
With the oil being pushed into fragile marshland around Venice by strong winds this morning, Louisiana declared a state of emergency and the Obama administration declared it a spill of "national significance".

Internet can have delights regardless of the bad things. Ones of them are: they keep us busy, it's the fastest way to get information. The dangerous of the internetspeccially for children and teens are: they can get bad information, they can see images or videos that show violent things and they might copy it.

Chatrooms can be good in the way we can talk to friends that are far away and we can meet new people. But with this we can be adressed by people who have secont thoughts like kidnaping people.

When we are accessing we should take some percautions like don't revelate our personnal information, as our address.
